Seek Him In Prayer I knelt beside my chair today And prayed to God above, Lord - cleanse my heart of impure thoughts And fill me with your love. Soon my heart was filled with joy So quickly did I recall - The need of prayer for family and friends, And to your throne I brought them all. You said "ask and it shall be given you, Seek and you shall find, Knock and it shall be opened", I rejoice that this came to mind --(Math 7:7) Because I prayed for each by name And for each special need, The Holy Spirit filled my life He is powerful indeed! I asked God to bless our land - its leaders Our friends and family, The homeless, jobless, hungry, depressed, That you would help the blind to see. I prayed that we all mighht be thankful For His enumerable blessings and care Lord - help us proclaim you as Master and King And be eager your message to share. I was on my knees for quite a long time, Every problem and care releasing - I'm assured He will hear and answer each one, He tells us to "pray without ceasing". (I Thes. 5:17) We read your word every morning And earnestly seek as we pray, Your wisdom, guidance and courage - To face each trial for that day. We rush and fret - getting very upset, As onward through life we trod Then a small voice inside reminds me - "Be still and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10) So I return to my chair to listen - For he says - my child I do care, Then a calmness comes from my Father As I earnestly seek Him in prayer. Ann Lawson 03-02-1987
