A Memory from Connie Younts Lystad One of the first memories I have from my childhood is of my grandparents, Esther and Frank Gallaway, and my mother, Mildred Gallaway Younts, in Orange Grove, Texas in 1952. I was three years old and my mother and I were staying with Mamaw and Papaw at their farm since my dad, C.L. Younts, was in the Navy and had to be sent to California before shipping out to fight in the Korean War. The memory of the mornings at the farm are still very clear in my mind: When I heard the rooster crow, I woke up and went into the kitchen where they were having breakfast. Everyone was so happy to see me! They always said, "Good morning Sunshine!" and picked me up and put me on top of the kitchen table to see if I could touch the ceiling to see how much I had grown overnight. It is just a tiny memory but the love I feel remembering it is big! I am 70 years old now but it still makes me happy to think about it!
