A Memory from Edwin Younts Memories: riding Continental Trailways bus from Alice to Warton to stay a couple weeks in the summer with Pap-Paw at the farm, 2 trips a day to the rest home to see Mam-Maw and take her ice cream. Old memory, sitting on the floor of the living room in Warton, Pap-paw pretending he was asleep in a chair, we would grab his toe sticking out the end of his sock and he would act like he was hitting our hand with his cane. I'm going to do this poem from memory: Dusty Shelves, a box of Capewell horseshoe nails, a box marked, med. flat bastard files. grandpaws old spectacles in a case, Texas State Opticle, I'm sure mom took him there for his exam. She hauled him everywhere, she loved him more than life. She took him to his favorite ole places. The Orange Grove Co-Op, South Texas Auction and Commission Co. Out the old highway 281 to get his cattle check. I remember that ole 2 piece pencil he left at our house, made for marking cattle on the card. Said Max Lindermann. Mgr. he always carried one in the pocket of that ole kakyi shirt. I remember that ole dodge truck, with side boards and some ole Mexcian goats in the back. that ole hard sided suitcase tied on the side. Pap-Paw I hope I have a hitch in my get along like yours some day. I hope when I see you next you're sittin on the porch with Mamaw Holleren at that ole 3 legged dog, and your cows are all fat!!!!.
